A little about me
Hi, I'm Bryona! I am a fine artist and illustrator who works in a variety of traditional and digital media, including watercolor, graphite, pen & ink, and digital illustration. I have a passion for nature and science that inspires much of my work.
I was born in Colorado but grew up in the farmland of Pennsylvania catching newts and frogs. For as long as I can remember I have had a passion for creating visual work. When I was young I was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). During treatment, I spent a lot of time watching animated movies, and I believe that this is where my love for animals and nature started. After three years of chemotherapy, I was declared in remission and have been since!
Being a childhood cancer survivor, science has always been an interest of mine alongside art. I attended Boise State University where I graduated with honors and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Biology with a minor in Visual Art.
I recently graduated with my Master of Fine Arts degree in Medical Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where I focused on combining my passions in art and science to communicate complex biomedical information and help make scientific information more accessible through art.
When I'm not creating art, I'm an avid reader of historical fiction, fantasy and romance, and an amateur reptile keeper of a crested gecko and Kenyan sand boa.
